"It's simply gorgeous and has a wonderful calming vibe, reflecting the azure waters of a secluded cove at night, as white wave tips reflect soaring moonlight."
From the Owner:
February 1972: It was a breezy, warm day in Lahaina as my mother, brother and I began to walk the colorful, exciting promenade of art galleries and specialty shops that lined the once bustling Front Street. From glass blowers to sketch artists and countless fine art galleries full of vibrant displays, my artistic mom swooned at every turn.
It wasn’t till she came across this John St John painting that the momentum stalled. She got into a discussion with the proprietor and one hour later, the painting was wrapped and headed to our home in Kansas City, Missouri, where the calming work would hang till the late 1990s. The last 25 years, the painting followed her in retirement to Sierra Vista, Arizona.
The work fit well with her sophisticated décor, as she was a fine artist herself, working as a technical illustrator and photographer for TWA her entire career. She photo documented Pope John II’s entire visit to the US in 1987, was the first to take pics of TWA’s then new 747 and L-1011 jets. In the 1970s mom obtained private pilot, multi-engine, and IFR ratings, bought a small plane and flew it for 40 years till she turned 87! She traveled the world and spent time in Eygpt, Germany, Spain, Hawaii, Bahamas, and Canada.
Her spirit is captured in this sterling example of John St. John’s inspiring work!
